Systematic Sales and Service, Inc.
Located in Marietta, Georgia, Systematic Sales and Service manages employees in over 200 Home Depot Stores. Their job is to educate the employees on the floor with the latest instructions about how certain manufacturers want their products to be set up and displayed (example: Philips Lighting). In addition, Systematic provides Employee Leasing Services to Home Depot for these personnel. They needed an effective way to disseminate information and deliver HR Services to these employees. Previously, Systematic had been communicating through traditional methods such as mail, overnight packages and faxing. The lack of timeliness and excess costs were causing problems. Systematic hired us to build an Intranet to centralize communications with their employees in the field. The system performs such features as communication, document distribution, HR policies and procedures, on-line testing to verify employee knowledge, on-line surveys to employees about key strategic store information, password protected employee master database that the employee can update, content management of text on the Site, ad hoc analysis of database information, adding, editing and removing employees, and a complete password protected back-end for administering the Web Site such as adding and removing documents and pictures and content text editing.
Benefits have been dramatic in terms of cost savings and quality improvement. Systematic is growing by attracting additional Home Depot work and work from other retail businesses that can utilize their services. They cite their Intranet as a significant advantage that they showcase when seeking new business. In essence, Systematic enhances their Brand Image in the eyes of their customers with their Intranet System. Currently, we are developing an online Job Application System to speed up their hiring processes. Benefits include: faster job submissions, job solicitation to candidates nationwide, reduced costs associated with labor, faxing and postage, and enhanced Brand perception in prospective employees by presenting them with this technical innovation. An email is sent to HR with each submission that includes an embedded link to the applicant's information. Applicant information is held in a searchable database for future reference. Future Intranet projects being discussed include: Dynamic Organization Charts, Message Boards for Employee collaboration between locations, additional HR functions such as Open Enrollment, additional Data Collection opportunities, additional paperless opportunities, additional Front end development to enhance their Brand, and Search Engine Marketing.
